Bell ringers

St Mary's has a fine ring of 8 Taylor bells that were cast in 1907. Our primary role is to ring the bells for any services that require the bells. In practice this means that we ring for the 10.00am service every week and for any additional services such as Christmas morning and any others that do not occur on a Sunday morning.

At present we have a total of seven ringers who regularly attend the morning service ringing. Since we have eight bells available this means that we generally only ring on six. Despite this we very rarely miss the morning ringing and we also are able to ring for all the major church services.

We practice on a Friday evening between 7.30pm and 9.10pm. We welcome all visitors whether they can ring or not and if you cannot ring but would like to learn then please come along and I will arrange some lessons.

For any other information about the bells or the ringing please contract Paul Grainger-Allen (Tower Captain) on 01454 632604 or see our web site www.olvestonbells.org.uk.
