Every two years, St Mary’s Outreach Team choose a Christian based charity to support. In recent years well over £50,000 has been raised for such deserving causes as mosquito nets, a medical centre, flights to aid the blind and a womens’ refuge.
This year the Sow and Grow appeal hopes to raise £15,000 for two deserving causes. With the money raised, returning Rwandan refugees will be helped to become self-supporting agriculturally and given clean water. In addition, a Reflective space garden at Olveston Junior School is planned.

Earlier this year there was a very successful Murder Mystery with dinner at the Parish Hall attended by over 100 people.

Then, we have held a Graveyard talk; a fascinating talk by Fiona Macaskill about the flights she and Angus made around Western Australia and a very well supported walk from Aust to Littleton, Elberton and back to Olveston

The walk raised an astonishing amount of money – £3,359 (including gift aided donations). To this we can add a further £2.500 from a very generous anonymous donor, who offered to match all fund raising in August and September. So now (October) the Appeal Fund stands at just over £11,100.

Our next money raiser is the EVENING OF JAZZ on Saturday 5th October. Tickets available on the door for £10. Start time 7 for 7:30pm

And then on Saturday 16th November there is a skittles evening in the White Hart which also aims to thank Steve in the White Hart and the Crusty Loaf for their continued support of the Church over many years. Details on the website, go to the Home page and click on “EVENTS”.
