On Tuesday 17th March, Year 3 from Tockington Manor School visited the church for a guided tour.
The 24 pupils along with 6 teachers listened intently to brief talks by Rev Steve Oram, architect Peter Floyd and churchwarden Martin Gibson.
Steve explained the configuration of the church among other interesting facts about the larger “church”.
Peter toured the building pointing out some of the strange features of the building laced with historical facts.
Martin showed the students the memorial in the chancel to the Salmon family and explained the connection between their original house (the Manor) and the current school.
The children were entranced by the talks, especially when there was mention of burials and heads being chopped off. All in all a great experience for everyone. Thanks to Hayley Green for bringing her class and all the other teachers.
