Once again everyone is encouraged to show their appreciation for the NHS at 8pm tonight. Open your doors and windows, rattle those pots and pans and at the same time, pray for all our NHS front line workers.
The Parish Council owns and maintains three play areas – Vicarage Lane, Olveston, Tockington behind the Parish Hall and on the football pitch at Old Down. When the Government imposed restrictions on movement the Council put up CLOSED notices on each play area. Yesterday the Chairman, John Hughes, had a discussion with South Glos council and it has advised that all EQUIPMENT should be taped off. This will be done as soon as the warning tape and posts arrive. Obviously there is a risk, some would say very small indeed, of the coronavirus being transferred from equipment to people, but it is sad that at a time when children and their parents desperately need to find any activity they can, to have to close these play areas. The grassed area at Vicarage Lane can still be used.
The Tower Appeal has received yet another boost. An anonymous donor has gifted £4,000 to the appeal, which together with Gift Aid, makes it worth £5,000. This person’s generosity is greatly appreciated.
